(ANS – Buenos Aires) – Between 6 and 8 May the members of the Education Team of Provinces of the Salesians and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA) in the America-South Cone Region met in Buenos Aires as part of the annual meeting of the Salesian Youth Ministry Secretariat, School Section (Schools SEPSUR), an organisation set up in 1998.

During the meeting there was an evaluation of the current working guidelines for the organisation and Fr Raúl García, from the Uruguay Province was elected as the Salesian representative for the next two years. Sr Fanny Dobronic FMA from Chile was confirmed in office for a  further year.

According to what had been agreed at the Interamerican Congress on Catholic Education (CIEC) held last year in Santo Domingo, criteria were presented to be followed by the Salesian Schools in America, aimed at raising their quality and their educative-pastoral significance in the Provinces.

During the meeting it was agreed that the next annual meeting would be held in Chile, between 5 and 7 May 2011. It will serve to continue to promote collaboration regarding the challenges of education in the faith.
