Also present were the World President of the Past Pupils, Francesco Muceo, the World Delegate Fr José Pastor, the President and National Delegate of Spain Francisco Salazar and Fr Jesús Guerra, as well as various members of the Regional Federation of Seville and of the local committee.
There were various activities on the programme for these days. On Friday 23, after morning prayer, those taking part went to the city hall where Miss Luisa Bertiato introduced the theme of the Congress, “The commitment of the young Salesian Past Pupil in the face of the challenges of the new Europe.” In the afternoon with the Youth Leaders from the “Francisco Míguez” Salesian Youth Centre, they prayed.
On Saturday 24, the young Past Pupils went to Montilla, where the local Association which was preparing to celebrate its centenary, took part in a pilgrimage for the IV centenary of the local Patron, Saint Francesco Solano. Fr Francisco Ruiz Millán, the Provincial of the Salesians of Seville, presided at Mass in the parish church where the saint, described as the apostle of the Indies was born. Thos attending the Congress were received by the Mayor of Montilla, Mrs Rosa Lucía Polonio, who thanked them for their visit.
This was followed by an address by Ángel Gudiña, President of the young Past Pupils of Spain and a round table discussion during which various Pat Pupils spoke about their own experiences and engagements in society.
The meeting ended on Sunday morning with Mass and the conclusions.
