The seventh and final volume of Fr Arthur Lenti’s work in English with the title “Don Bosco’s golden years”, in at the press of the LAS Publishing house of the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome. Overseeing the publication is Fr Aldo Giraudo who is completing the correction of the proofs and compiling the analytical indexes.
The Councillor for Formation, Fr Francesco Cereda, has expressed his considerable satisfaction with and great appreciation of the work of Fr Lenti and Fr Giraudo: “Now the English-speaking world has an authoritative source for the knowledge of Salesian history and spirit and therefore for the strengthening of its charismatic identity. Now is the time for a similar effort in the wide distribution and use of this work, especially at all the stages of initial formation.”
Editions of Fr Lenti’s work are appearing in other languages.
The fourth volume in Vietnamese is due to appear soon, the work of Fr Joseph Phuoc Nguyen, who teaches philosophy in the postnovitiate in Dalat.
The first volume is ready to be printed at the “Central Catequística Salesiana” (CCS) in Madrid. Responsible for the Spanish edition are Fr Juan José Bartolomé and Fr Jesús Graciliano González who, in agreement with the author, will produce the work in three volumes while updating the notes and quotations and adding a Spanish bibliography.
A translation in Korean of the first volume has already been published.
In these days, the Rector Major and the General Council gathered together for the intermediate session, in the course of studying the Italy-Middle East Region, have also approved the translation of Fr Lenti’s work into Italian.
In congratulating those involved in the work of translation and distribution of Fr Lenti’s volumes, Fr Cereda expressed the hope that they may be followed by the publication of other works in various languages, and that this work may assist in the preparations for the bi-centenary of the birth of Don Bosco to be celebrated in 2015.
