The meeting was held in the celebrated Red Hall of the Parliament of Sicily, considered to be the oldest in Europe, at the invitation of the President and Past Pupil the Hon. Francesco Cascio. Greetings from the Governor of the Region, the Past Pupil the Hon. Raffaele Lombardo, unable to be present in person, were brought by the Hon. Alessandro Aricò who thanked the Committee for its being in Palermo.
On the agenda was a discussion of the draft of the Regulations and of the notes regarding the organisation of the Assembly. The text of the Regulations will be sent to the those taking part in the Assembly so that they may make any appropriate observations to be sent to the Central Committee which will meet again in the next few months to put the finishing touches to the details of the world meeting which is held every six years.
Present at the meeting as observers were also the members of the Presidential Committee of the Ranchibile Past Pupils’ Union of Palermo presided by Dr. Vittorio Consoli, which on Sunday 21 February held its local meeting. At this meeting which the Central Committee attended, Fr José Pastor Ramírez, World Delegate for the Past Pupils gave a talk on the subject “150 years from the founding of the Salesian Family, the Don Bosco Past Pupils in the world between memory and prophecy”.
The IV World Assembly of the Don Bosco Past Pupils, which will be held at the Salesianum between 29 September and 3 October 2010, will have the task of approving the Statutes of the Confederation and electing the World Presidential Committee.
