The cause for the Beatification and Canonisation of the Servant of God Fr Carlo Crespi Croci (Legnano, Milan, 29 May 1891 - Cuenca, Ecuador, 30 April 1982), Salesian missionary, educator, friend of the poor, scholar, founder of the Salesian Polytechnical University of Ecuador.
On 15 January the Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, Archbishop Angelo Amato, signed the Decree by which the canonical validity of the Acts of the Diocesan Enquiry for the Process of Beatification and Canonisation held in the Archdiocese of Cuenca was recognised. A month later the Decree has been published.
The Postulator, Fr Enrico dal Covolo, immediately sent a request to the Prefect that the role of Relator of the Cause be assigned: he will be responsible for the compilation of the “Positio”, that is the dossier which has to demonstrate as well as possible the heroicity of the life and virtues of the Servant of God.
The Vice-Postulator of the Cause is Fr Luciano Bellini, former Rector of the Polytechnical University and at present the Rector of the house in Guayaquil, while the collaborator in the drawing up of the “Positio” is Dr. Luis Alvarez Roda, from the same University.
