The saint and his work are becoming better known and the involvement of the young people, their parents, teachers and Cooperators increasing and becoming more and more enthusiastic
On Friday 29 January at the Salesian secondary school named after Blessed Klymentiy Shepticky there was a big celebration in the presence of the Archbishop of Lviv His Grace Igor Vosniak who presided at Mass and then joined in the joyful atmosphere of the show put on by the students with sketches, songs and an inspired presentation of this year’s Strenna entitled: Sir we want to see Jesus.
Archbishop Igor after greeting everyone and wishing them a happy feast day of Saint John Bosco expressed appreciation and thanks to the Salesians for the valuable and important work on behalf of the young.
On Saturday 30 January at the headquarters of the Delegation there was a gathering of all the Salesians, the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, the Cooperators, the teachers and lay helpers to study the Strenna and talk about the various educational activities of the year in the light of the ideas and inspiration of the Strenna itself.
It was a lively, interesting and well attended gathering. Over a hundred people were present all of them enthusiastically drawn by the educator Saint. During the meeting the youngsters from the “Pokrova” Childrens Home performed a sketch which moved everyone by the delicacy and skill shown by the young actors.
On Sunday 31 January it was the turn of the parish to celebrate with specially solemn and well-attended Masses. During the Masses the faithful were reminded of the tragedy in Haiti with the earthquake, which seriously damaged the Salesian centres and especially the five hundred youngsters who died in the ruins together with three Salesians. A collection was taken as a sign of solidarity.
