The Exhibition, prepared by the volunteers and the students of the “Don Bosco Volunteer Training Centre” (DBVTC) under the guidance of Fr Mathew Kuthanapillil, was opened by Paul Hassan, Secretary General of the Region of West Bahr El Ghazal, of which Wau is the capital. After a short address the Director General for Infrastructure, Marcelo, cut the ribbon.
Visiting Expo2009 were hundreds of students, workers and members of humanitarian organisations, religious men and women, military officers, politicians and local people, all appreciating the beauty and the creativity shown in the work produced by the students of the Salesian Institute which offers seven subjects in vocational training: computer studies, printing, electronics, building, wood-work, welding and car mechanics.
Through Expo2009, the Staff and Students of the Salesian School in Wau demonstrated the quality of the teaching and the training in the Institute and showed how “Saint Josephine Bakhita” is an excellent technical centre of learning which is contributing to the progress of the country and in a particular way to that of southern Sudan.
Expo 2009 was a great success. The authorities and the representatives of firms and businesses who were present at the Exhibition promised the young students work opportunities.
For the Salesians in the Wau community, the volunteers and the teaching staff it was without doubt an unforgettable experience, which as well as giving the Institute a great shop-window involved and engaged all the students giving the when everything was over, a sense of great satisfaction.
