Italy – Educating and evangelising in the school and in vocational training |
Italy - Sport with a human face and a new National Association |
This organisation will foster a sharing of common values and of working arrangements in order to provide a means of expressing the Salesian charism in an appropriate manner in society and at the same time establish a network to better communicate Don Bosco’s values as lived in these Associations.
In Italy there are 7 National Associations inspired by Don Bosco’s charism working in the fields of formation, education and human development for thousands of youngsters in difficult situations. On a daily basis they are involved in issues of social justice, of solidarity, cooperation, development, in safeguarding human rights and the environment, in the fight against sickness and poverty, in sport and in free time activities, constantly establishing welfare networks.
“For those working in Salesian Associations nowadays there is a great need for coordination and a desire for more involvement in Salesian Youth Ministry and in its specific role of evangelisation and human development,” Fr Luigi Perrelli, President of CNOS explained. “We also want to increase our capacity to contribute to a critique of civil society and its institutions and to work together to make, through shared efforts, a major impact.”
At a time when the world of youth is facing a critical future and a lack of focus, it is hoped this new initiative will make a valuable contribution in the face of the educative emergency seen as a priority by both the Church and Italian society.
