Argentina – The contribution of SYM to Youth Ministry |
The Assembly was attended by the Delegates of the diocesan teams, by national and other Movements and by members of the National Commission for Youth Ministry. Then Assembly which operates according to its own regulations has as its aims: the drawing up and approval of general norms for Youth Ministry, the assessment of various procedures, the drawing up of general guidelines, the delegation of responsibilities within the National Commission and proposing to the Argentine Bishops’ Conference structural changes regarding Youth Ministry.
During the Assembly the new National Coordinators appointed by the ABC were presented: Mercedes Bacxos and Darío Rizzuto. The first is a member of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) directed by the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians in the Buenos Aires Province and previously a member of the National Commission for Youth Ministry as the representative of the National SYM.
In addition to working in the field of national coordination, the Salesians and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians are present in other areas at national level. Sr. Graciela Recchia, FMA from Buenos Aires, is national adviser; Analía Jara, a lay women from the Córdoba Province ACO, works in the permanent secretariat; Julieta Segura, a lay woman from the Bahía Blanca Province (ABB) and Br Ariel Fresia SDB, from ACO, are respectively national representative and adviser of SYM and members of the National Commission for Youth Ministry.
The purpose of the National Commission for Youth Ministry is to encourage the participation, communion and representation of the various youth organisations their different backgrounds and charisms.
