| RMG –The Salesian Family blessed with three new groups |
Present at the ceremony at which Cardinal Stanisław Ryłko, President of the Pontifical Council for the Laity, presided were also the founder of the movement, Mgr Jonas Abib, a priest of the diocese of Lorena, in the State of San Paolo, various ecclesiastical authorities from Brazil and some members of the community.
“This association of the faithful,” – the decree of recognition states - “ arises from the need to evangelise and encourage a deepening of faith, fostering the rediscovery of the sacrament of Baptism, the royal road for a meeting with Jesus Christ through the promotion of various formative activities aimed at young people and adults. Among the instruments of evangelisation, Canção Nova gives first place to the media, but also uses many other means that encourage participation in the mission of the Church.” Article 3 of the Statutes states that “Canção Nova sets out to form men and women capable or working for a new world through commitment to the evangelisation of contemporary society according to the perspectives indicated in the Apostolic Exhortation ‘Evangeli Nuntiandi’”.
Also present at the ceremony were Fr Pascual Chávez, Rector Major of the Salesians and Fr Adriano Bregolin, his Vicar. For some time the movement “Canção Nova” has been requesting to be recognised among the groups of the Salesian Family.
