Germany - Discover Sudan: Largest African Nation in German Schools |
The winners are the pupils of two classes in the “J.-M.-Fischer High School”, in Burglengenfeld, a small town in Bavaria, who presented a project of a house in “Sudanese style” planned not from a western point of view or the industrialised mentality of Germany, but of Sudan, a country marked by war.
“Discover Sudan” is a project adopted by many schools in Germany. About 1,900 teachers asked for the teaching material with which they were able to present in their classes the situation in Sudan. In addition the campaign was accompanied by some events such as an interactive exhibition and informative multimedia material.
“’Discover Sudan’ has shown the great potential that young Europeans have for making decisions about the future - Bro Jean-Paul Muller SDB from the Bonn Mission Office says: “They are enthusiastic, fair-minded and idealists.”
Funds collected during the campaign will be used to build rural schools in the area Tonj, in southern Sudan.
