Cuba – Closing of diocesan process for Fr José Vandor |
Colombia – Daughters of the Sacred Hearts: growth in holiness |
On 7 August last there was a particularly festive occasion. The Postulator General for Salesian Family Saintly Causes, Fr Enrico dal Covolo, after celebrating the Eucharist in the house where she was born, now a public oratory, received people who wished to indicate some grace received through intercession of Sr Maria. The crowd was so large that the police had to close the street leading to the home of her birth.
The Postulator went to Costarica and Nicaragua to visit places of prodigious evangelising and social work by Sr Maria Romero Meneses, and to be better informed of the circumstances of graces attributed to her intercession, in view of the final phase of the canonisation process. He took advantage of the occasion to deliver several conferences on holiness to Salesians and Salesian Sisters. On 6 August, The Transfiguration, he met with all the Salesians in Costarica for the Province feast day, since the province is dedicated to the Holy Redeemer; with aspirants, postulants and novices of the Salesian Sisters in the community of Cartago (Costarica); with those responsible for various Salesian Family Groups in Nicaragua and Costarica, and with leaders of social activities that had been started by Blessed Sr Maria Romero. Finally, accompanied by Fr Cosimo Semeraro, he went to greet the Apostolic Nuncio of Costarica, Archbishop Pierre Nguyen van Tot.
