Among those at the presentation were Roberto Cavanna, Executive Director of the Post Office of Ecuador, Marcelo Cabrera, the Mayor of Cuenca, Carlos Fernández de Córdova representing the Prefect of the Province of Azuay, Mgr. Alberto Luna, member of the committee for the Beatification and Canonisation of Fr Crespi, Mgr. Gabriel Díaz Cueva, theological consultant for the Cause, Fr Rafael Bastidas, Vice Provincial of the Salesians in Ecuador, Fr Marcelo Cevallos, Notary for the Cause, Fr Ángel López, Rector of the Salesian community of Yanuncay di Cuenca and Fr Luciano Bellini, Vice-Postulator of the Cause of the Servant of God. A considerable number of people were present in the new theatre of the Salesian Polytechnical University, recently re-structured and dedicated to Fr Crespi, for the presentation ceremony.
In his address, Roberto Capanna gave a eulogy on Fr Carlos Crespi emphasising his passion for work; on his part, the Mayor Marcelo Cabrera, recalled the great work undertaken by the illustrious Salesian priest on behalf of the city of Cuenca and of the eastern part of Ecuador in the educational, cultural, scientific, social and religious fields. Finally, referring to his own personal memories as an aspirant at the “Colegio Orientalista Salesiano” of Cuenca, founded by Fr Crespi himself, Fr Rafael Bastidas, spoke about the amiable and generous characteristics of the Servant of God.
