(ANS – Lima) – From Saturday 12th to date, Monday September 15th, is being held, in the Province of “Santa Rosa da Lima” in Peru (PER), the Meeting of the Delegated of Social Communication of Interamerica Region, which gathers nine communicators, both Salesian and lay persons. Fr. Filiberto González, SDB, General Councillor for Social communication is also present on this occasion.

This meeting aims at dealing with the fundamental theme of Social Communication, starting from General Chapter 27, towards the educative-pastoral fields of the family, the school and the parish. This event is also planned to assess the policies already dealt with and experienced in the meeting of Quito 2014, and its resonance in the re-shaping of provincial plans and projects, in particular in relation with the Social Communication Provincial Project.

The first speech was delivered by Fr. Gonzalez, who expressed his gratitude to Fr. Santo Dal Ben, PER Provincial, and explained how one of the reasons for the choice of the venue “was the simultaneous presence of Fr. Timothy Ploch, General Councillor for Interamerica Region, who is doing the Extraodinary Visitation to the Peru Province and who wanted to meet and talk with the Delegates of the Region”.

Fr. Dal Ben then said that “hosting the meeting is interesting, because it allows to meet and interact with persons and realities of the same provincial community”.

“In each province beats the heart of the Congregation, and it is therefore essential to have a project of Social Communication in which animation and formation are integrated in generating shared ideas and processes that may help mature a stronger identity”, said Fr. Gonzalez. He also emphasized the importance of “knowing how to communicate” and underlined that the Salesian proposal is at one time “communicative, educative and evangelizing. Technology, as an instrument, is always subordinate to the contents of an experience, and this must be the experience of God which each Salesian, whether a religious or a lay person, begets within themselves and is capable to express with balance to the others”.

Later on there was a revision of the conclusions of the meeting of the Delegates for Social Communication of Quito 2014, in which one of the goals was promoting a greater and better coordination among the sectors of the mission, i.e. Youth Ministry, Social Communication and Missionary Activity, and synergy among these sectors, without confusing the specificities and differences, in order to generate processes and projects that may improve the service offered to young people and their families.
