(ANS - Vatican City) - Today, June 9, the Holy Father, Pope Francis, appointed Fr Aliaksandr Yasheuski, SDB, as the auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Minsk-Mohilev, Belarus, who until now is the rector of the Community of Smarhon, assigning him as the titular bishop of Fornos the great.
Aliaksandr Yasheuski was born on August 6, 1974 in Smarhon, in Belarus.
In 1991 he entered the Salesian seminary of Czerwińsk nad Wisłą, in Poland, his perpetual vows in 1998, then on June 24, 2000 he was ordained priest.
He completed his studies in philosophy at the Salesian seminary of Łodź and his theology at the Pontifical Salesian University - Rome. In this University, in 2009 he obtained a licentiate in dogmatic theology.yasheuski
He carried out his pastoral duties in the parish of Saints Peter and Paul in Baruny and, later, in the parishes of the Holy Trinity in Zhodziszki and San Michele Arcangelo in Smarhon, at the diocese of Grodno. During 2001-2002 he was rector of the Salesian novitiate at Oktiabrsk, in the province of Moscow.
From 2002 to 2003 he was administrator of the parish of Saints Peter and Paul in Zhuprany, in the diocese of Grodno. From 2003 to 2005 he served as provincial secretary for Eastern Europe. From 2005 to 2011 he was assistant priest of the parish of St. John the Baptist in Minsk and Director of Education and Religious Instruction for the Archdiocese of Minsk-Mohilev.
From 2005 to 2008 he was also the rector of the Salesian community in Minsk. Since 2009 he was a professor of dogmatic theology at the Centre for the preparation of catechists of the same archdiocese. In 2011 he was appointed parochial vicar in the parish of San Michele Archangel at Smarhon and the rector of the local Salesian community.
From 2013 he was also the Vicar and Economer of the Delegation of Belarus, belonging to the Province of East Poland.
