(ANS - Turin)- On Friday 5 June, at the Agnelli institute in Turin, there was a Thanksgiving Ceremony to pay tribute to the companies that support the work of the Salesians in the professional training of young people and their right to work. The initiative, promoted by the Salesians and the Professional Training Centres of Valdocco, Rebaudengo and Agnelli, also served to revive the "GIOB200" project that aims to promote the recruitment of young people from the vocational training centres.

The ceremony is taking place after a year of training carried out in the Salesian Vocational Training Centres in Turin. The students are prepared for life by learning a trade, alternating theory and practice.  The ceremony served as an opportunity to thank the companies that have once again accepted the invitation of Don Bosco to help in the training of young people, hosting them for a period of internship.

The willingness demonstrated by the companies has enabled each of the young people to put into practice what they learned during the year, and especially to experience the world of work.

Those who have completed internships will face the qualification exams in a few weeks’ time, and then they will be ready to be taken on as apprentices in companies that need them. This may be through the "GIOB200" project promoted by the Salesians in Piedmont and Valle d'Aosta - and re-launched by the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime at the National Civil Celebration of the Bicentenary of Don Bosco. "GIOB200" is an appeal to companies to mark the bicentenary of the birth of Don Bosco by offering jobs to 200 young people in vocational training.

The programme of activities began with a football tournament between young people from different centres. Then the representatives of the companies were welcomed. In mid-morning awards were presented to students who excelled in vocational activities and the companies were thanked. Among those present were representatives of various political and administrative authorities and local representatives of the National Centre for Salesian Professional Training (CNOS-FAP) in Piedmont.
