(ANS – Rome) – The general council’s summer plenary session began on the afternoon of June 1. For the next several weeks the Rector Major and his council are called to reflect upon and deal with their responsibility to animate and govern the Congregation.
The session was preceded by two meetings led by Fr. Francesco Cereda, vicar of the Rector Major, with the sector councilors (on May 30) and the regional councilors (on the morning of June 1).
The councilors’ work will be split, as usual, between plenary meetings and time for personal reading and reflection so that they may absorb more deeply the subjects they’re studying and the documents they have to approve.
Among their traditional activities we can indicate the sharing of reports on the extraordinary visitations carried out in the last few months, the nominations of new provincials, and the distribution of funds for missionary purposes.
