(ANS - Lima) - For four years the young people of the Don Bosco Young People’e Home at Brena in Lima have had the use of an oven which they call the "Panificadora Don Bosco." They make bread and nougat and also “Don Bosco Panettoni", as part of a campaign that aims to train young people and, at the same time, to support the activities of the home.
The residents are all socially vulnerable young people from difficult situations. The aim of this project is to teach them the art of baking and so prepare them for a job and their reintegration into society.
The young people work honestly and attend classes in cooking and baking at the home. This helps them to grow and develop, not only professionally, but also personally.
It should not be forgotten that the "Panificadora Don Bosco", is also a production unit that supports the social work of the Salesians in the parish of Mary Help of Christians.
During the Christmas season the young people are working hard to bake panettone, under the guidance of the Rector, Fr Ricardo Lach, SDB.
The Don Bosco Panettone is made in four different sizes, always to the highest quality standard:
Thanks to the efforts of many young people, the Don Bosco Panettone has been successful on the national market for the past four years. The hope is that, with the support of companies and individuals, it will continue to be so for many more years.
More information about this project is available on the website of the Salesians of Peru Salesiani del Perù.
