(ANS - Sesto San Giovanni)- The students of the Salesian Vocational School in Sesto San Giovanni played a part in the technical production of the film "KZ". It tells the true story of three young Italians from the Milan area who were deported during World War II.
Between 1943 and 1944, during the occupation of the Nazi-fascist Italian Social Republic, three young men - Guido Valota from Sesto San Giovanni, Angelo Ratti from Cernusco sul Naviglio and Venancio Gibillini from Milan - were arrested and deported to the camps of Mauthausen, Flossenburg and Dachau. Gibillini and Ratti managed to survive. Valota died during a march when he was being transferred.
By calling on the memories of Valota’s son, Peppino, and of the two survivors, it was possible to reconstruct the story of their vicissitudes. The plot revolves around their arrest, imprisonment, deportation, life in the camp and finally their release, in a series of events that tell both human and dramatic aspects. Each character is accompanied along the tragic path, in a work that combines images of the places where the crimes occurred, interviews with the protagonists and witnesses, and a series of short films that illustrate various episodes.
The young Salesian students were involved with the technical crew who produced the film, the producer Ermanno Alini, the director of cinematography,Giuliana Tintori, and Matteo Motto the very young sound technician. Supervsing the entire operation is Filippo Grilli, teacher and director of Professional Training at the National Centre for Salesian Works.
The non profit cultural association "Gpg Film" which produced the film along with the National Centre, offered the services of its technicians. They acted as support to the students, guiding them in the difficult art of cinematography. The location, the decor, the props and costumes required a bit moe expertise and were entrusted to experts.
In addition to the three protagonists of the film, played by non-professional actors, there was a cast of fifty supporting actors, plus a huge range of extras, the vast majority of whom were Salesian pupils, past pupils, teachers and parents.
The film will be premiered on 18 December in Sesto San Giovanni with further showings in the following months. The schedule of programming and more information on the film can be found on the website of the Salesian School of Sesto San Giovanni.
