(ANS - Turin) - Tomorrow, Friday 21 November, marks the start of the Academic Year 2014-2015 at the Salesian University Institute, Rebaudengo, Turin. In addition to the traditional academic ceremony the day will also see the opening of the new Mario Viglietti library.

It starts with the celebration of the Eucharist at 9.00 a.m. in the chapel of the Institute. Fr Enrico Stasi, Provincial of the Salesians of Piedmont and Valle d'Aosta, will preside.

The academic ceremony begins at 10.00 a.m. with a word of  welcome from the Director, Professor Alessio Rocchi, greetings from the Dean, Professor Fr Ezio Risatti, and several authorities, including the Mayor Piero Fassino. The central act will be the keynote address, "Challenges for a Catholic University, a passion renewed" by Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone.

After the traditional award ceremony for the graduates, the morning will end at 12.00 noon with the opening of the new Mario Viglietti Library, which specializes in psychology and pedagogy. It has more than 16,000 volumes and access to different digital Databases. The first group of books and magazines focussed on the work of guidance and counselling started by Professor Don Giacomo Lorenzini. Then the library expanded and developed through the interest of Professor Fr Mario Viglietti (1921-2007), father of Educational and Vocational Guidance in Italy, after whom the library is named.

In addition to the aforementioned, the following have confirmed their participation: Fr Luca Peyron, Delegate of the Archbishop of Turin for University Campus Ministry; Elis Tisi, Deputy Mayor of Turin; Giovanni Porcino, President of the City Council; and other local authorities.
