(ANS - Napoli) - As part of the celebrations for the bicentenary of the birth of Don Bosco, next Monday, 13 October,  in the historic Teatro San Carlo in Naples, the opening ceremony of the Bicentenary of Don Bosco in  the Salesian Province of Southern Italy will take place.

The ceremony wasattended by the President of the Senate, Pietro Grasso, the Vicar of the Rector Major of the Salesians, Fr Francesco Cereda, and the Rector of the Salesian Pontifical University, Fr Carlo Nanni. The debate will be moderated by TG1 journalist, Dr. Maria Soave.  

Among the expected guestsare the Archbishop of Naples, Cardinal Sepe, his Vicar General and other members of the local clergy. The objective of the event is to highlight the relevance of the message of Don Bosco and to celebrate the occasion together with the local Church and civil society. The beauty of the South and of young people and the beauty of the educational charism of Don Bosco will be the underlying theme of the event. It is summed up in the motto: Educating to beauty like Don Bosco.

TheTeatro San Carlo will pay homage to Don Bosco with its own choir, and with the choir of the Salesian Youth Movement "DBchoir", which will perform songs in honour of Don Bosco.

Some stories of educative value will alsonarrated in multimedia, such as that of Al Amin, a young refugee from Bangladesh, who in the course of a long journey met Don Bosco who received him, fed him, educated him and helped him to enter the world of work; or that of Nando, who, while he was going to commit a robbery, opened a cupboard to get his gun. There he found a life of Don Bosco. This was a sign that made ​​himchange his mind. Or the testimony of Salvatore from one of the most problematic districts of Naples. Thanks to the Salesian Oratory he reached a turning point in his life.
