(ANS - Sant Joan d'Alacant) - The thirty-second meeting of local groups of the Association of Mary Help of Christians (ADMA) in the Province of Valencia will be held tomorrow, Saturday 31 May, in the village of Sant Joan d'Alacant. The meeting is the annual gathering of devotees and associates of Mary Help of Christians in the twenty-three local groups in Aragon, Comunidad Valenciana , Murcia and Albacete. It is expected that about 500 people will arrive for the occasion.
It is the first time that such a meeting is taking place in Sant Joan, where an ADMA group was officially formed in 2000 when they separated from the ADMA group at Campello. It has sixty-five members and is one of the few groups not connected to a Salesian House.
ADMA was founded by Don Bosco himself in 1869. The purpose of the Association is to share and promote devotion to Mary Help of Christians, and to support vocations and promote missionary solidarity.
In the Province of Valencia there are more than 6,000 members in 23 local groups: Albacete, Juan XXIII Alcoy, San Vicente Ferrer Alcoy, Parish of St. Stephen in Alicante, Mary Help of Christians in Alicante, Cabezo de Torres, Cartagena, Campello Elche, Ibi, La Almunia de Doña Godina, Sueca, Torrente, San Antonio Abad in Valencia, Mary Help of Christians in Valencia, Villena, the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians in Zaragoza and the Salesians in Zaragoza.
Most of these groups are connected with local Salesian parishes and shrines, and cooperate in activities such as Caritas, assistance to the sick and the marginalized, and social work.
