(ANS - Rome) - After six weeks of work - not counting the preliminary proceedings – after countless meetings, multilingual debates and hours and hours of reflection, meditation and prayer, the 27th General Chapter of the Salesians of Don Bosco will close on Saturday 12 April.
Like the opening of the Chapter, the closure is also a symbolic event, with a sequence of ceremonies and significant gestures.
The Chapter members’ day will begin early in order to allow some to return home that same day. The closing Mass is scheduled for 7.15 a.m. (GMT +2). The Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime will preside, accompanied at the altar by all the members of the General Council, those who have completed their term of office and those who are newly elected or confirmed in office.
Then, about 10.00 a.m. local time, the Rector Major will give his final talk in the Aula Magna which hosted all the Chapter proceedings. It will contain a summary of GC27 and give a direction for the next six years.
The Moderator, Fr Francis Cereda will then declare the 27thGeneral Chapterofficially ended.
The concluding address of Fr Fernandez Artime will be streamed live on various Salesian sites: www.sdb.org – www.missionidonbosco.tv – www.unisal.it.
