(ANS - Madrid)–  A meeting was held at the Provincial House in Madrid on 22 and 23 November entitled Be Seen - Network Communication. The purpose of the meeting was to offer training to religious organizations in the use of social networks.

It was attended by 60 people who are responsible for communication in different congregations and religious organizations. The course, sponsored by the Department of Communication and the Internet of the Spanish Conference of Religious, was coordinated by Fr Javier Valiente, SDB.

Various aspects of the work of the communicator in the network were addressed. Fr Valiente presented the profile of the community manager, the need and importance of having a plan for network communication and the steps to process it, how to use social networks, how to handle crisis situations, and the use of search engines.

Susana Hortigosa from the iMision team, spoke about the world of blogs and podcasts as a means of communication content, and showed some examples of both. Considerable time was devoted also to graphics, processing and the picture quality needed to be attractive in communication. José María Martín conducted an essentially practical session, with lots of ideas to improve the image of sites and profiles on the social networks.

The issue of the legal implications of the presence on the internet - often wrongly underestimated - was also addressed. Pablo Fernández, an expert on Internet law and intellectual property, spoke with a relaxed style and fun on the regulatory aspects to consider in digital communication.

It is worth noting that at the meeting there was a significant participation of members of the Salesian Family, including Provincial Delegates and those who are responsible for communication in various Salesian environments.
