(ANS – Roma) – From today, Monday 23 September, until next Saturday 28th, the Salesianum in Rome will host an International Study Seminar entitled “Daughters: a category that defines the Marian Identity of the FMA.” Mother Yvonne Reungoat, Superior General of the FMA, will open proceedings this afternoon.

The Seminar is organized by the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA) and the Pontifical Faculty of the Science of EducationAuxilium. It proposes to study the category of filialnessthat qualifies human and Christian identity. Itis on this horizon that the Marian dimension of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians is situated. Mother Yvonne wishes to be able to offer a small contribution to re-thinking the Marian principle along with the Ecclesial principle, as desired by PopeFrancis upon his return from Brazil last July.

Sr. Pina Del Core, Principal of the Faculty states: “The Seminar is the occasion to face a question that is complex but vital in view of the global context of a crisis of identity. This crisis touches the existence of the men and women of our times and hasa preoccupying impact on the world of youth, that of identity and filialness. It deals with two of the most relevant human tasks that are intertwined with the theme of maternity/paternity, a reality that is today continually placed in discussion by ourculture”.

In order to respond to this anthropological instance, and aware of the proper educational and cultural role concerning the new generations, the 200 educators from diverse cultural contexts participating at the Study Seminar propose the following. They will seek to understand anew the genuine identity of the person and of the human family. They will individuate educational journeys that clarify what it means to be interdependent ‘creatures' and will give motives for what it means to be generated and to generate. They will study the dimension of filialness, which is the way to fraternity.

The Seminar will follow an interdisciplinary format, deliberately chosen. An introductory session is planned for Tuesday, the body of work will take place from Tuesday to Thursday, there will be a workshop on Friday and on Saturday, Mother Yvonne will bring the seminar to a conclusion.
