(ANS – Rome) – Today, 21 June, the Rector Major, with the consent of his Council, has appointed a Colombian Salesian, Fr Jaime Enrique Morales Alfonso, aged 67, as the New Provincial of the St Peter Claver Province of Colombia Bogotá (COB).

Fr Morales was born on 18 February 1946 at San Eduardo. He entered the Salesian Novitiate of Tena in December 1963. He made his perpetual profession in Bogotá in 1970 and was ordained priest on 15 August 1974.

He was Rector at Tunja (1988-1993) and in the Provincial House in Bogotá (1993-1999).  He also held several responsibilities at regional level, as animator, Vice-Rector and Director of the Regional Centre for Ongoing Formation from2000 to 2010, and Director of the Pacifico-Caribe Centre for Ongoing Formation from 2005 to 2008.

He was Vice-Provincial of COB from 1993 to 1999 and from 2010 until the present. In 2011 he became also Provincial Delegate for Formation and in 2012 Delegate for Social Communications.
