(ANS – Rome) – The formation course for newly appointed Provincials officially started today, at the Generalate, together with the General Council.

Taking part in the course are 10 Superiors appointed to their Provinces from May 2011 to August 2012:

• Fr Giovanni Rolandi, Provincial, East Africa (AFE)
• Fr Greg Chambers, Provincial, Australia-Pacific (AUL)
• Fr Edson Castilho, Provincial, Brazil Sao Paulo (BSP)
• Fr Munir El Ra'I, Provincial, Middle East (MOR)
• Fr Thomas Vattathara, Provincial, India Guwahati (ING)
• Fr George Maliekal, Provincial of the new Province of India Silchar (INS)
• Fr John Jairo Gómez, Provincial, Colombia Medellín (COM)
• Fr Nestor Guria, Provincial, Dimapur India (IND)
• Fr Camiel Swertvagher, Provincial, Africa Great Lakes Vice-Province (AGL)
• Fr Onorino Pistellato, Provincial of the Greek-Catholic Ukraine (UKR) special circumscription.

The course for recently appointed superiors is an important moment for the government and animation of the Congregation. Through meetings with the Rector Major and various General Councillors, visits to the various departments and sectors in the Generalate, formation for animation and government, and shared discussions, the Provincials acquire knowledge and skills relevant to their mandate.

The end of the course is planned, as for previous winter sessions of the kind, for Thursday, December 20, the Rector Major's birthday.
