(ANS – Guwahati) – Last Friday 10 February the Congregation of the Visitation Sisters of Don Bosco, the most recent group admitted into the Salesian Family, celebrated this blessing with a Solemn Mass.

Archbishop  Dominic Jala SDB of Shillong presided with 12 Salesian priests. Other groups of the Salesian Family were also represented. Sr. Cecilia Sestad, Mother General of the VSDBs - gave a brief history of the Congregation and welcomed all the guests to the celebration.

Archbishop Jala his homily reflected on the beauty and importance of being in a family in order to gain the support and encouragement of each other. The 18 novices together with the postulants and the Sisters animated the celebration. After the Holy Eucharist, all took part in a fraternal meal prepared for the occasion.

The VSDB Congregation was founded on May 31, 1983 by Archbishop Hubert D`Rosario SDB of Shillong (1969-1994). It was officially admitted into the Salesian Family on 24 January the Feast of St Francis of Sales by a decree of the Rector Major of the Salesians, Fr Pascual Chávez.
