Held in accordance with the plans of the SC Department, it was attended by representatives Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador, Venezuela and Mexico, with a total of 25.
The main purposes of the meeting was to get to know the situation of the various publishing houses in the different countries, the way they are part of the dynamics of the Province and their place in the Provincial Structural Plan, the revision of the articles regarding the production sector (publishers) described in the Salesian Social Communication System (SSCS) and the creation of synergy for the American continent.
Each publishing house had the opportunity to present its own work, organisation and plans for the future. The meeting also created links not only of knowledge of other publishers but also the possibility of working together in a responsible manner, establishing net works which facilitate communication among themselves.
The meeting ended with some practical proposals and a commitment to provide ongoing formation for those working in the publishing houses; continuing support and work in synergy in order to create common programmes; constant updating at continental level; the study of new forms of multimedia production and responding to the needs of disadvantaged youth and people in general.
In the presence of Fr Marcelo Farfán, the Provincial of Ecuador (ECU) and Fr Filiberto Gonzalez, Councillor for Social Communication, those taking part concluded the meeting with the determination to revitalise the publishing houses in each of the Provinces.
