The theme of the gathering at which there were also groups from Belgium and Spain was: “There was Faith …” based on an expression of Don Bosco: “He did the picture, you colour it in.”
During the five days the youngsters took part in various activities including dancing, games, sketches and discussions, on all colourful aspects of life. Sr Bénédicte Pitti and Fr Daniel Federspiel led the periods of reflection and celebrations and also spoke about their own vocations with great simplicity and joy.
The camp activities were adapted to the different age groups so that all were able to join in. Right from the start Fr Jean-Marie Petitclerc, the one in charge of the camp, suggested to the youngsters that their aim should be “living and doing things together” without choosing only those things they were used to, but also taking part in shared activities and celebrations not particularly “spiritual”.
With this encouragement, the youngsters cheerfully joined in the various sports activities – also in the rain. There were two main groups: one for those between 13 and 18, and another for those between 18 and 25. At the end of each day, gathered in small groups, they reflected on the day’s happenings and then shared with the others their own thoughts and ideas through artistic representations.
At the conclusion of the Bosco Camp it was suggested to the young people that they should keep in touch especially those from outside the Salesian Family Groups. Using “msn” or “facebook” they have already started - sharing photos, their own impressions and memories of the time spent together.
The volunteers who were involved in the running of the Bosco Camp were invited to become more involved through the Salesian Youth Movement.
During the Camp the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Salesian Congregation was remembered and celebrated.
