“With Cagliero 11 we want to reach all the Salesian  communities around the world to remind them at least once a month to pray for all the missionaries ‘ad gentes’; at the same time to remind them, as we remind ourselves, that we are all called to be ‘missionaries of the young,’”  explains Fr Václav Klement, Councillor for the Missions.

The news service, simple and easy to use, is one of the initiatives launched by the Department for the Mission in line with the aims for the DOMISAL 2009 (DOmenica MIssionaria SALesiana – Salesian Mission Sunday): re-kindle the missionary flame in the Salesian communities.

Published in six languages (Italian, English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Polish), it is available only in digital form on the sdb.org site and in SDL, the Salesian digital library.

The title “Cagliero 11” recalls John Giovanni Cagliero (1838-1926), leader of the first missionary expedition that officially set out  on 11 November 1875 for Patagonia, in Argentina.
