(ANS - Madrid) - The year of the Bicentenary of Don Bosco ended less than a month ago. This week the Salesian Family in Spain is preparing to celebrate the feast of St John Bosco and, although the liturgical celebration is not until 31 January, activities of all kinds are already taking place in various Salesian centres in honour of the "Father and Teacher of Youth".
This year the feast of Don Bosco takes on a special value, since it comes at the end of the bicentenary year. One of the highlights will be the launch of the book "Fuentes Salesianas" (Sources Salesian) in Madrid: more than 1,200 pages of the writings of Don Bosco, an anthology crucial to an understanding of the history, pedagogy and spirituality of the saint and the origins of Salesian work.
In addition, on Sunday 31 January, the programme "The Lord's Day" on TVE will broadcast the Eucharist from the Salesian parish of Burriana, in Castellón, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary. Fr Cristóbal López, Provincial of Spain-Mary Help of Christians, will preside.
On the same day, 31 January, Archbishop Renzo Fratini, Apostolic Nuncio in Spain, will preside at the Eucharist in the parish of Mary Help of Christians, to mark the closure of the national events for the Bicentenary of the birth of the founder of the Salesian Family.
