(ANS - Brno) – A new year opened recently in the School of Communication for the leaders in the Salesian centre in Brno. This project was started in 2009 by past pupils of the Faculty of Social Communication of the Salesian Pontifical University. The aim is to help young people navigate the world of the media, to acquire the necessary critical skills and actively participate in the production of multimedia content in the Church and in the Salesian Family.

The School of Communication involves five meetings that take place in as many weekends, each dedicated to a different theme: sound, photographs, graphics and social networks, video and presentation.

Over the weekend, participants have the opportunity to meet with communication professionals, and get to know the media through practical exercises and real production of messages (press releases, video, etc.). In addition to the time devoted to training, the meetings always include time for games, prayer, and leadership and also an opportunity to spend time together and share experiences.

According to the project coordinator, Anežka Hesová, "On the staff of the School of Communication three groups of the Salesian Family are represented: Salesians, Daughters of Mary Help of Christians and the Salesian Cooperators. This allows the participants to experience the spirit of Don Bosco in the media. Thanks to the climate of friendship and enthusiasm that is created during the weekend, many past pupils of the School of Communication commit themselves after finishing the course to work in the area of communication in their places of origin, in the parishes and youth centres".
