(ANS - Vatican City) - Yesterday, Tuesday 15 September, the list of participants in the forthcoming Synod of Bishops was published. The Synod is scheduled to take place at the Vatican from 4 to 25 October. The theme is "The vocation and mission of the family in the Church and in the contemporary world". Nine Salesians will participate.

The Sons of Don Bosco called for the Synod are:

• Bishop Bernardo Miguel Bastres Florence of Punta Arenas
• Cardinal Ricardo Ezzati Andrello, Archbishop of Santiago de Chile, President of the Episcopal Conference
• Archbishop Dominic Jala of Shillong
• Cardinal Charles Maung Bo, Archbishop of Yangon

as members elected by the respective Episcopal Conferences.

• Cardinal Angelo Amato, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints,

as one of the Heads of Department of the Roman Curia.

• Cardinal Oscar Andrés Rodríguez Maradiaga, Archbishop of Tegucigalpa, President of the Episcopal Conference of Honduras
• Cardinal Daniel Sturla, Archbishop of Montevideo
• Bishop Luc Van Looy of Ghent

as members appointed by the Pope.

• Fr Aimable Musoni, Rwanda, Professor of Systematic Theology: Ecclesiology and Ecumenism at the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome

as a collaborator of Special Secretary, Archbishop Bruno Forte of Chieti-Vasto.
