(ANS – Dimapur) – The ceremony of blessing and laying of the foundation stone of Don Bosco College was held on Monday, 8 December 2014 at 6th mile on Diphu-Manja road, close to Dimapur, Assam. The hour-long programme was attended by priests, religious and lay people from Diphu region as well as a few Salesians from Guwahati and Dimapur.

Rev Paul Mattekatt, Bishop of Diphu, officiated at the blessing ceremony, invoking God’s blessings upon the dream project. “This will serve the educational needs of the region,” he said while expressing hopes that big numbers of youngsters will benefit from such a venture. He thanked the Salesians for their initiative in starting the college in the diocese of Diphu.
The foundation stone was laid by the Salesian Provincial of Guwahati, Fr V M Thomas SDB, the brain behind this initiative. He expressed great joy at the way things are proceeding and said that every effort would be made to start classes at the new site soon. He thanked Bishop Paul for his generous offer of the land to the Salesians for use as a college campus.
Fr Joseph Teron SDB, Principal of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School Sojong, stated that the establishment of Don Bosco College in Karbi Anglong is God’s blessing, saying that it would provide varied opportunities to the youth of the region to develop their potential.
Fr Cyriac Vettikathadam SDB, Director of Don Bosco Junior College, welcomed and thanked everyone for their encouraging presence. The function was brief but meaningful as it marked the beginning of a work for the benefit of the needy youth of Karbi Anglong in Assam.
