(ANS - Rome) - As part of the work of the General Council, on Friday 10 January, the Rector Major, Fr Pascual Chávez, with the consent of his Council, appointed Fr Francisco Serrano Méndez Provincial of Venezuela for the six years from 2014-2020.
Francisco Serrano Méndez was born on 19 March 1962 in Caracas-Petare in Venezuela. He did his novitiate in San Antonio de los Altos and made his first religious profession on 8 September 1982. He made his perpetual profession in La Vega on 13 August 1988 and was ordained priest on 24 August 1991.
Fr Serrano Méndez holds a degree in Educational Science. He was Economer at the Salesian post-novitiate in Los Teques and at San Antonio de los Altos, and subsequently Rector of the post-novitiate and also in Duaca, Valera, Caradas-Altamira and at the Provincial House. He served the Province as Provincial Delegate for Schools and Centres for work-training.
The date of his installation as Provincial has been scheduled for 3 May, after the 27th General Chapter in which Fr Serrano Méndez will participate as delegate for Venezuela.
