(ANS - Rome) - Yesterday, 12 December, during the winter plenary session of the General Council, the Rector Major, Fr Pascual Chávez, appointed Fr Víctor Sequeira the new Superior of the Mamá Muxima Vice-Province, Angola.
Fr Víctor Sequeira was born on 22 March 1969 in Asunción, Paraguay. He joined the Salesian novitiate at La Plata, Argentina, in 1986, made his perpetual vows on 31 January 1992, and was ordained priest in his hometown on 3 August 1996. He went as a missionary to Angola in 1997 and served there for several years in various Salesian communities - Luanda - Palanca , Calulo and Dondo - as Rector, Parish Priest and Economer.
Fr Sequeira knows 5 languages - including Guaraní - and was a member of the Provincial Council on several occasions (2000-2001, 2003-2005, 2011-2013). Last November, he participated in the Conference of the Provinces and Vice-Provinces of Africa and Madagascar (CIVAM) in Yaounde, Cameroon. He will be one of the delegates to the 27th General Chapter. His installation will take place at the end of GC27.
