(ANS – Godelleta) – 17 new teachers from various schools in Valencia Province took part in study days on the Salesian style from 16-18 Ocotber, at Godelleta.  Javier Torregrosa, the new Province coordinator for schools, led the teachers through this educational and spiritual experience.

In the first talk, Salesian Fr Segundo García, Province coordinator for social platforms, presented key items in Salesian Ministry, such as “something that I feel called and sent to do, like a vocation... God keenly loves every boy and girl and his a plan for each one's happiness.” Fr García encouraged the teachers to support young people in their development as human beings.

Then during a time for sharing, magician and mimic Iván Arribas offered his perspective on the magic of life and being a teacher. With a few tricks and with the help of the Rector at St John Bosco's Valencia, Fr  José Joaquin Gómez demonstrated how what looks impossible can be made to happen, and that by working together we can bring about a hopeful and homogeneous community.

On the Thursday morning, Fr Gómez briefly went through Don Bosco's life and expressed his contentment: “Seeing you here, I am aware that Don Bosco's dream has come true; young teachers of other young people”, he said. In the afternoon, psychologist Paul Viudes reminded everyone of their educational task: “ Unless one changes, one does not learn. If we are ready to change then we can ask young people to change.” The day concluded with a performance by the Assisi Producciones, a group of young musicians.

On the last day, Fr Gómez provided the teachers with a final set of suggestions of an educational and pastoral kind and invited them to feel part of the great Salesian educational family: “Without familiarity there can be no affection, without affection no trust and without trust, no education” he told them.

Those taking part were very satisfied. “These were wonderful days. It was a joy to renew ourselves in the hope of being better teachers and better people”, teacher Ana Ramos said.
