(ANS – Morelia) – On December 2nd Fr Alberto Durán Cabrales, Rector of the Antonio de Mendoza community in Morelia, and Salesian Brother Víctor López Cisneros, opened a medical clinic near the Salesian Oratory.
The clinic is for the benefit of those attending the Oratory and all the young people of the neighbouring villages and districts. The initiative has been made possible thanks to the commitment, perseverance and the help of a large group of parents of the boys, with health professionals and doctors, who have worked together with the Salesians in Morelia to enhance what the Oratory offers and thereby widen pastoral structures and social services in the community.
At the opening ceremony of the new clinic, the youth group young leaders expressed their full appreciation; the Rector of the work was also visibly pleased, and after a short speech, he let Silvia Ferreyra, President of the local branch of the Damas Salesianas (Salesian Women) say a few words. Mrs Ferreyra, a health professional, who is engaged daily in nursing at the Oratory, emphasised the importance of this event.
The clinic is named after the Rector of the work, Fr Durán Cabrales, in recognition of his work on behalf of youth. The one responsible will be Bro. López Cisneros, as Director of the Oratory.
The Oratory at Morelia, belonging to the Mexico City Province, attracts an average of about 600 children each week. There is an extensive team of committed lay people, who meet regularly and are responsible for the Wednesday catechesis. They collaborate with the Salesians in pastoral activities.
