(ANS -Vatican City) - Late yesterday morning in the Press Office of the Holy See, the Post-synodal Apostolic Exhortation of the Holy Father Benedict XVI "Sacramentum Caritatis" was presented in a Press Conference
The document, dated 22 February the Feast of the Chair of St Peter, reflects the conclusions of the Synod held in Rome between 2 and 23 October 2005 "The Eucharist as the Source and Summit of the Church`s Life and Mission."
Taking part in the presentation were Cardinal Angelo Scola, Patriarch of Venice, General Relator of the XI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops and Archbishop Nikola Eterovic, Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops.
The document "presenting in a way accessible to our contemporaries the great truths about eucharistic faith," - Archbishop Eterovic declared - "deals with various aspect of the current situation regarding its celebration and encourages a new commitment to the building of a more just and peaceful world in which the Bread broken for the life of all may become ever more the model in the fight against hunger and every form of poverty."
The Exhortation, which as Cardinal Scola pointed out: "indicates the essential connection between the three aspects: the Eucharistic Mystery, liturgical action and the new spiritual worship" is structured in three parts each of which considers one of the dimensions: "The Eucharist, a Mystery to be believed," "The Eucharist, a Mystery to be celebrated," and "The Eucharist, a Mystery to be lived.".
