2/4/2007 - India - Government of Karnataka recognizes salesian service
(ANS - Bangalore) - The Government of Karnataka (India) has honoured the services Salesians render to marginalized children by inducting three confreres into the Child Welfare Committees (CWC).

The three confreres are Fr. Kuriakose Puthenpurayil, Chairman, CWC, Davengere, Fr. Varghese Pallipuram, Member, CWC, Bangalore and Fr. Joseph Pazheparambil, Member, CWC, Gulbarga. Child Welfare Committees are constituted by the respective State Governments under the Juvenile Justice Act, 2000. This five-member body has the final authority to dispose of cases for the care, protection, treatment, development and rehabilitation of children.
