Cuba – A Church on the move, alive, really missionary |
(ANS – Santa Clara) – Between Saturday 29 October and Tuesday 1 November Fr Adriano Bregolin, Vicar of the Rector Major, paid a visit to Cuba. On this his first visit, accompanied by Fr Bruno Roccaro and Fr Julio Alberto Fernández, Fr Bregolin went to the Salesian houses in La Víbora, Old Havana and Santa Clara and those of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians in Peñalver and Manguito.
In Santa Clara he said an evening Mass on Monday 31 October, in the church of Our Lady of Carmel, where the Salesians have been working for over fifty years. Before the end of the Mass Fr Bregolin blessed the traditional picture of Mary Help of Christians which is venerated there, and has just been restored.
Then he met the members of the Salesian Family and encouraged then to promote life, the family, education, evangelisation and vocations, as the fundamental foundation of the apostolic mission. He also encouraged them to be always joyful and responsible “committed to the mission and enthusiastic in it.”
Before leaving he had meetings with the Nuncio Apostolic Archbishop Bruno Musaró, Cardinal Jaime Lucas Ortega y Alamino, archbishop of San Cristóbal de Havana and various Cuban civil authorities.
