(ANS – Mohernando) – Between 21 and 23 October a group of 25 Young Salesian Past Pupils of the Spanish Confederation met at the Salesian House in Mohernando for their annual meeting of sharing, formation and planning. During the meeting the new National President of the Young Salesian Past Pupils was elected: Carlos Córdova Alcaide.
Coming from the various regional federations (Seville, Leon and Barcelona) they were accompanied by the World Delegate Fr José Pastor Ramírez, by the National Delegate, Fr Jesús Guerra, by the National President, Francisco Salazar and by the out-going National President of the Young Salesian Past Pupils, Angél Gudiña, who also chaired the meeting.
The theme was: “Music and its application as a means of teaching and of pastoral service of the Association of the Past Pupils and of the young people who work with them.” There were two workshops on this theme: one on prayer through music, and body language with Fr Carlos Martínez Voces, and the other on musical training with Fr Mariano Fuertes, both Salesians, teachers and experienced musicians .
On Saturday afternoon 22 October, there was an Extraordinary Assembly of the Young Salesian Past Pupils at which Carlos Córdoba Alcaide was elected the new National President of the Young Salesian Past Pupils taking over from Angel Gudiña, who left office following his election as representative of the Young Salesian Past Pupils in the World Confederation of Don Bosco Past Pupils.
The meeting ended with Mass at which the Provincial of Madrid, Fr Luis Onrubia presided. He took the opportunity to encourage the young people in their Christian commitment. The meeting was considered a success and marked further progress in the Young Salesian Past Pupils in Spain, which not only represent the future of the Spanish Confederation but already carry out important leadership roles in the local associations and in the regional federations.
