(ANS – Milan) – About ninety young people from Salesian works in the Middle East Province of Jesus the Adolescent (MOR) are taking part in World Youth Day in Madrid. On the evening of Saturday 13 August they met their Provincial, Fr Maurizio Spreafico, who had arrived in Italy before them, and then joined a group from the Salesian Youth Movement of Lombardo Emiliana.
The delegation of young people from the MOR Province, which comprises 5 countries, is being led by the vice-Provincial, Fr Munir El Ra’i. In more detail, 9 come from the Holy Land (3 from Bethlehem and 6 from Nazareth) with Fr Dany El Hayek, 9 from Syria and 5 from Lebanon with Fr Simo Zakerian, and 11 from Egypt (6 from Cairo and 5 from Alexandria) with Fr Helmy Morcos.
From Turkey, Fr Jacky Doyen, who is responsible for youth ministry at Church level, will lead a group of 53 young people from four Catholic rites, Armenian, Chaldean, Syriac and Latin, and 10 young Orthodox.
These young people from the MOR Province will be among those taking part in the festive and spiritual gathering of the Salesian Youth Movement being held on 17 August at the Salesian House of Atocha, together with the Rector Major and the Mother General.
