The threatening progress of secularism, the failure to recognise the common Christian roots of Europe and the phenomena of the fall in vocations and the rise in the average age of religious, has led the USG to devote the last three Half-yearly Assemblies to the study of Consecrated Life in the Old Continent:
• 75th – Consecrated Life in Europe today – Situation and implications
• 76th – Consecrated Life in Europe. Commitment to an evangelical prophecy
• 77th - Identity and Prophetic Significance Of Consecrated Apostolic Life today.
Recently the talks from the latest Assembly held at the Salesianum in Rome between 25 and 27 May were placed on the Vidimus Dominum site. As the President of the USG, Fr Chávez, at the opening of the Assembly observed the talks provide material for the study which ought to “accompany the lived experience of our Brothers and Sisters in their task of faithfully incarnating their own charism.”
The texts from the three Assemblies are available as are those of the Theological Seminar in February in the section “documents” and “theological seminar” on www.vidimusdominum.org in Italian, English Spanish and French.
