Mexico – Bosco Camp, 10th Anniversary |
Mexico – “Camp Rua”, training course for youth leaders |
The young people are following the course organised by the Provincial Youth Ministry Team which last six years, the principal aim of which is to learn from Don Bosco’s experience and has the name “Returning to Valdocco”. Young Salesians in formation also took part.
The meeting began with a reflection on a significant and constructive learning experience conducted by Dr Francisco Ramón Botello. Then in groups, they young people examined the theme of “Don Bosco’s values and attitudes.” Then Dr. Francisco Cabrera spoke on the subject “An integral formation, life and witness.”
On Saturday afternoon Fr Daniel García, Youth Ministry Delegate for MEM, and Dr Cabrera spoke about the things a Salesian Leader needs to know in order to present a Valdocco experience, at various stages of development: the “Club Juanitos” for children, the “PAD” for adolescents, the “SYM” for young people and the “JOMIS” for young adults. The day ended with a period of prayer.
The following day Sunday 5 June, after dismantling the tents used overnight, the Leaders took part in a “Lectio Divina” and prayers. The Team then presented the project “Living Valdocco” with its methodology and contents, made up of 5 stages: Look Listen, Get involved, Live and Evaluate. In this way the young people learned how to draw up pastoral plans and put them into practice, as well as always remembering the importance on ongoing assessment and defining strategies.
The meeting ended with Mass. The young people then made their promise as Leaders and among these two were introduced as volunteers for the missions. It was a very enjoyable and useful experience for the whole group in learning more about Salesianity.
