(ANS – Madrid) – Less than 100 days from the celebration of World Youth Day (WYD), the Salesian Youth Centre in Parla, Madrid, has organised a series of concerts for Christian songwriters, under the banner ‘We are marching to WYD’.

The purpose of the concerts is to encourage young people from the youth centre and from the entire diocese to take part in WYD and to learn how to express their faith through music or dance, together with other young people. They are open to all and will take place each evening at 7pm on 13, 14 and 15 May in the Isaac Albéniz auditorium in Parla, to the south of Madrid.

Among the songwriters included in the programme are Toño Casado, Jotallorente, Darío and Guzmán, Infinito and Kaos. As well as musical performances there will be drama, dance and various entertainments. This is one of the many initiatives put on by the Salesian centres to encourage young people to take part in WYD.

The Salesians in Spain are continuing their work of preparation and logistical organisation necessary for welcoming members of the Salesian Youth Movement throughout the world who will be taking part in WYD 2011. Updates and useful information are still available on the web site www.bosco2011.com
