Among suggestions made at their joint meeting on 18 December 2010 was that of helping the Provincial Delegates and those responsible for Social Communication to highlight, organise and celebrate World Communication Day which will be kept this year on the Feast of the Ascension 5 June.
The message which Pope Benedict has prepared for the occasion and which was published on 24 January once again focuses on communication in the digital era; inviting believers to bear witness to their Christian identity also on the net: “Truth, Proclamation and Authenticity of Life in the Digital Age.”
On the basis of this invitation the SDB Department and the FMA Sector for Communication on their respective sites have opened a section with useful material for the preparation and animation of this day. The resources – presentations, photos, links and articles – are different according to the various languages on the site. It is possible to see them by following the language required on sdb.org (fma). It is hoped that as time passes more will become available thanks to the contributions of the Delegates and those responsible for SC who are invited to send in material for all the languages.
Fr Filiberto Gonzalez and Sr. Giuseppina Teruggi, the SDB and FMA Councillors for SC hope and pray that the celebration of the XLV World Communication Day will provide an opportunity to create in the local and province religious and educative communities, material for study and reflection on the subject proposed by the Holy Father and lead to pastoral and formation projects.
