The series began 50 years when it was started by a group of European Salesians and Daughters of Mary Help of Christians. The 2011 Congress will take place at the “Don Bosco Zentrum” in Berlin Marzahn and will be conducted in Italian and English. It will consider the question of relationships in education and the problems between teachers and students especially in the area of the affective-moral and the spiritual-religious dimensions.
The educational relationship, an essential element in education, is nowadays often under threat from issues such as power, violence and sex. The educational emergency which has emerged in recent years, especially in the west, demands constant reflection on the affective-moral and the spiritual-religious dimensions of the relationship between teachers and students which needs to be restored so as to foster the really personal, cultural and social development of the people involved.
On the programme are contributions by Sr. Mara Borsi and Fr John Dickson from the historical standpoint, by Fr Roger Burgrave, Fr Dariusz Grzadziel and Fr Rik Biesmans from the modern scientific and theological points of view as well as the opportunity to exchange information about good practice.
Bookings for the meeting which is open to members of the Salesian Family interested and engaged in the educational field will close on 15 April.
In addition, for those who are interested it is possible to request a cd-rom containing the material from the meeting held in 2007, which was devoted to the prophetic role of the laity in Salesian education at a time of secularism and from that of 2009, which, in the light of the Valdocco experience, offered inspiration for those involved in formation nowadays.
