(ANS – Madrid) – One of the more important challenges facing the Salesian Publisher House Edebé for the next school year is a new project covering the whole area of religion. For the first time this will include all levels of teaching: infant schools, primary and secondary schools, aimed at the complete formation of the students.

It has four inter-connected fundamental features. Symbolic and artistic language is shown to be a valid means for arriving at the spiritual dimension, and knowledge of the Christian religious event is at the basis of a commitment to one’s neighbour. To represent the spirit of this educational project in an adequate manner names have been chosen using the Hebrew words “Tobih” (The Lord is My God) for Infant and Primary Schools and “Ithiel” (The Lord is with Me) for secondary schools.

The project is the result of teamwork employing the collaboration of a number of members of the Salesian Family and was introduced at the Secondary Teachers’ Training College (ESO) by means of the aid: “Experience of opening to Transcendence.”

The Salesian Publishing House has produced a wide range of material for the religion project for both teachers and pupils: fully illustrated books, aids posters, pictures, a UBS pendrive with various resources for printing and screen projection, books for families and computer material.
